Reactive Rehab
6 week reconditioning class for reactive dogs
Service Description
A calm and educational weekly class to help humans and their reactive dogs learn to cope in stressful situations. Reactive does not mean "aggressive" it simply means a dog has a reaction to a stimulus, that is driven by emotion. This can be fear or excitement that leads to over arousal. We will work on focus on owner exercises, natural behaviours around other dogs as well as using counter conditioning techniques to recondition the emotional response. This is an intimate group with strictly no more than 3 dogs and their handlers, to allow for exposure to triggers yet plenty of distance and their own safe zones. The last thing we want to see in a "reactive dogs" class, is any reactivity! Week 1 is a lesson for humans only, to go through all things reactivity before you bring your dogs to class. When arriving with your dogs in week 2, please wait in the car so I can safely get you to your own zone without the dogs reacting to each other. This is a progressive course consisting of 6, 1 hour sessions. **Waggology politely requests the use of a flat collar and/ or a well fitted, non tightening harness and a normal non retracting lead. The use of any corrective equipment such as slip leads, tightening head-collars, choke chains, e-collars or pet spray is not permitted.** Your most important piece of equipment is your reward! Prepare a selection of high value, human grade training treats such as cooked meats and cheese, chopped into teeny pea sized pieces.
